Emmett is a family name on my mom's side. I believe her dad's dad had Emmett in his name. I remember seeing it on a family history sheet one time. I'll have to look it up.
We have so far been visited by the whole medical team twice, 3 different nurses, 2 doctors, a nephrologist (a kidney doctor that is concerned about blood filtration,) the Occupational Therapist, the Social Worker, the Developmental Specialists, the home safety specialist, and I can't even remember who else.
- Patrick had a hearing test this morning. He passed on the left ear and failed on the right ear. They said he has some kind of hearing loss. They don't know how bad or what is causing it right now. It might be resolved some time in the future or he might have poor hearing in his right ear. They said it shouldn't really be a big deal. We have been referred to Primary Children's to have this checked out when we get home.
- The medical team came by and noted that he had been bottle fed all but 15 mL of his formula in the past 24 hours. We are pretty sure we've figured out the secret: just let him sleep between feedings and wake him up to eat. As long as he isn't too active between meals, he has been pretty "awake and hungry" when it's time to feed him. Because he has been doing so well, they pulled his ng tube. Welcome to a face without a feeding tube!
- The medical team came by for rounds this morning and said if he passes all his tests, we should be able to go home tomorrow. Brent and I have to do infant CPR, and Patrick has to pass his car seat test (make sure his vitals are good after sitting in a car seat for 3 hours) and an altitude test (make sure he can breathe on his own in a different altitude.) We aren't holding our breath since they keep changing their minds, but we are hoping and praying we get to go home!
